Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect during a first visit?

Your initial visit to Energetic Medicine will involve a 1.5 hour consultation. A complete health history will be taken, your energy levels will be assessed using the BioScan SRT or the REBA device, and a plan of treatment will be initiated. A one-hour follow-up consultation will be scheduled for one to two weeks after the initial appointment. Subsequent appointments will usually be shorter and less frequent, depending on the treatment plan.

What is homeostasis?

Homeostasis is the tendency of biological systems to maintain stability while continually adjusting to conditions that are optimal for survival. Homeostatic mechanisms help the body to regain its balance when disease or injury occurs and maintain that balance in the long term.

How can we tell when someone has reached a state of homeostasis?

Generally, it requires only 1 to 6 visits to reach a state of homeostasis.

In most cases, homeostasis can be achieved after the first visit. In order for the body to achieve homeostasis, individuals may require a second, third or, rarely even a fourth visit, dependent upon:

  • The stress level of the individual
  • The amount of bodily toxins
  • The strength of the person's immune system
  • The individual's level of hydration

However, several visits may be required to help the body to achieve homeostasis with those who are affected by multiple stressors. Once homeostasis is achieved, there is usually no need for subsequent or yearly visits for the same substance.

When using the term ‘Homeostasis’, we are referring to the state that the body achieves where it no longer produces any further symptoms to the stressor we worked with using either the BioScan SRT or BIE device. So if one asks "how will I know when my body has achieved homeostasis?" we are referring to the absence of symptoms from the substance (stressor) that you came to us with for help. i.e., “I no longer seem to react to the apples anymore". This is an example of the body reaching sufficient homeostasis to deal with apples. However, if your body is reactive to multiple stressors, i.e. grasses, trees, EMF, digestive disorders (foods, enzymes etc,) then these will require several visits to help the body achieve homeostasis.

Are any of the services covered by O.H.I.P. or health insurance providers?

A number of the larger insurance companies are beginning to cover homeopathy. However, each insurance plan is negotiated between employers and their particular insurance company. Check with your individual company to determine if homeopathy is covered under your plan. You will be issued an official receipt for your homeopathic appointment which you may submit to your insurer. Many health insurance companies cover homeopathy. However, the terms of this coverage vary according to the individual, group and self-employed plans offered within each each company.

Patients are advised to check with your extended benefits carrier whether your policy includes homeopathic treatment (sometimes included under paramedical services). If your policy does not provide the coverage you require, you are encouraged to be pro-active. You can write to the insurance company, asking them to include homeopathy in your type of coverage. If that fails, you can instruct your broker or union negotiator to find a plan that does cover homeopathy. Click here to download the insurance coverage request letter.

Many extended health insurance plans cover homoeopathy and many more continue to add this type of treatment to their coverage annually. Coverage for most of companies is between $500 to $1500 annually. A detailed invoice with all the necessary information (such as professional registration numbers) will be issued to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
